The Best Turtle Beach Elite 800 Wireless Review For You

The Turtle Beach Elite 800 is a high-end wireless headset designed for home and on the move. It operates with wireless devices using Bluetooth 4.0, with a dual pairing that lets you connect two devices simultaneously. When you are at home, a merged charging dock and transmitter connect to your PS3, PS4, PC, or Mac and transfer the audio to the headset.

Features

The Turtle Beach Elite 800 wireless comes with high-end features that you can expect from a £250 portable headset. Active noise cancellation is crucial if you travel a lot or use your headphones in noisy areas. DTS Headphone:X 7.1 Surround Sound, programmable audio presets for certain games and smart Dynamic Chat Boost. Thus, you can listen to people over the noise of the game.

Battery

Battery life is sufficient but relatively short at around 10 hours. There are numerous buttons on the ear cups, and they are easy to press accidentally. Indeed, one of the biggest drawbacks is no support for Xbox consoles. Thus, you have to buy separate adaptors. Now that’s a turn-off when you are already investing £250.

Connectivity

The headset has Bluetooth wireless connectivity for connecting to portable devices like laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. In fact, a bundled wireless transmitter functions well with most devices with optical audio output, like a PC, Mac, PlayStation 3, or PlayStation 4. Dual Bluetooth 4.0 pairing suggests that it will work with two devices concurrently. Therefore, you can listen to music from your tablet and take a call from your mobile.

What’s Inside the Box?

The package has all the necessary cables, and the instructions are easily decipherable. One especially nice feature is that the transmitter also offers optical audio throughout, so you can still send the surround sound signal to your AV receiver or TV.

The wireless transmitter is innovative and functions as a dock to charge the headphones.

The ear cups are a little too stuffed with multiple logos, the flashing Bluetooth status lights look silly, and they do not fold up for easier transportation. The plastic shell of the headset feels solid and is designed to last. In fact, this is an advantage as the package does not include a carrying case. The padding on the ears and headband feels soft and gentle, and it’s unbelievably comfortable on the head. This is a pleasant surprise if we consider the headset’s overall weight of 372g.

The headset is also covered in buttons that preside over what you are listening to. There are eight buttons in total, and they are split across four in each ear cup. Indeed, this means you don’t have to reach into your pocket to manage what you are listening to. However, the buttons could be easier to press by mistake. They are placed on four axes on each ear cup, which is precisely where you must normally touch to adjust the headset or turn it off, and they do not need any real pressure to depress. Therefore, it is a problem until you have used the headphones for some time.

Pros

  • It is beautiful and adds to the factor of style.
  • It sounds amazing and goes very loud.

Cons

  • It does not carry any Xbox compatibility out-of-the-box.
  • There are lots of buttons that you can easily and accidentally press.
  • It has a comparatively short battery life.
