Dutch artist Harm van den Dorpel draws inspiration from automotive concepts and presents a Maschine collection. Ethereum Blockchain.
Mercedes-Benz is launching a new NFT collection.
For this, the German car giant collaborates with the organization Fingerprints DAO and the Dutch artist Harm van Den Dorpel. This collection of generative art, baptized “Maschine”, is inspired by numerous automobile concepts.
Fingerprints DAO is a decentralized autonomous organization that has an NFT art gallery. It is the community that chooses the works of art selected. Among the latter, we find, for example, Autoglyphs from Larva Labs or even Loot Bags. There are also works by Harm van den Dorpel, such as Mutant Garden Seeder.
The Web3 branch of the car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz NXT supports this new project. This division’s mission is to work on NFT projects and virtual experiences of the Silver Arrow.
Three collections launched by Mercedes
This collection consists of 1000 NFTs hosted on the Ethereum blockchain. Regarding the artistic direction, this collection plays on the themes of speed and perception. The sale of the NFTs will open on June 7 and take the form of a Dutch auction, that is to say, a descending auction where the price drops gradually.
On Twitter, Mercedes confirms that this collection will not be the last. Indeed, the company plans to launch three collections developed by the 0xNXT studio. Other peripheral projects will also see the light of day.
A way to participate in the development of digital art
Harm van Den Dorpel welcomes Mercedes’ willingness to explore this new universe. He declares :
Being asked for this deposit and being entrusted with realizing a truly generative experimental work of art was an honor. The technical characteristics given by the blockchain have contributed to consolidating the fluid nature of digital art in all its variations in terms of ownership, provenance and conservation.
For Luiz Ramalho, the founder of DAO Fingerprints, the new Mercedes-Benz NXT division is a way to bridge the gap between traditional art and new digital art forms. The latter explains:
